Aster Hi-no-maru reaches 20 inches in height, has large pompons which are 2 - 3 inches wide and simply loaded with petals. Massive disks of red all centered on a white outer. What a wonderful visual display for both the flower border and the vase.   Pompon Aster seeds—perfect for adding color and texture to your garden! Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost or sow directly outdoors after frost danger passes. Sow seeds on the soil surface and lightly press down, as they need light to germinate. Keep soil moist until germination. Space plants 8–12 inches apart and sow at a rate of 2–3 seeds per inch in rows 12 inches apart for even growth. These tall, full-flowered asters thrive in full sun and are ideal for beds, borders, and cut flower arrangements.
